July 2023 Update

Adam has been off work since April 2023 as he’s been rather unwell. He is so much better and has started doing a few jobs but has had to change his working practices and lighten his workload. We are trying to figure out how to go about this. Part of doing this will be cutting down on the areas he has covered in the past which will include SW1, SW3, SW5, SW7 & SW10.

We are so very sorry but as Adam works on his own and has been running our company for 30 years, resulting in so many loyal customers, we have to be rather drastic in our working practice to protect his health. We will not be taking on any new customers, and will be quite strict about the scope of work he will carry out in the future.

Thank you for your understanding whilst we reconfigure our business to suit this new era.

Wishing you all our best regards,

Fanar & Adam

Tips

If you're having heating problems, here are a few things to look out for:
  • On a combination boiler

(Instant hot water with no hot water tank)

    • Check room stat is not turned down and check the timer is on.
    • Most combination boilers will lock out when the water pressure in the system is below 0.05 bar. The boiler can be re-pressurised using the filling loop which can be part of the boiler or a silver braided hose on the boiler pipe work. It will need to be re-pressurised to 1-1.5 bar. Once the correct pressure is achieved, the filling loop must be turned off.
    • If you have air in the top of a radiator, you can vent it but you muster-pressurise the boiler to 1.5 bar as explained above.
    • If an RF (radio frequency) room stat is fitted, check the batteries in the room stat do not need replacing.
    • After a power cut the RF room stat may need rebinding with the base unit, refer to manual.
    • The boiler may need resetting, reset button varies on each boiler, refer to manual.

  • On a standard system

(Fully pumped with cylinder and tanks)

    • If only hot water or heating does not work, it is more than likely a jammed zone valve. You can temporarily override the zone valve to stay permanently on. Zone valves are generally found in the cylinder cupboard, near the boiler or the boiler pump, they can be silver boxes, marked Honeywell. A lever on the end of the silver box can be lightly moved and lifted into lock position. DO NOT remove the boiler cover other than the easy to open hatch as you will not be able to fix anything and you may make matters worse.
    • Follow instruction for re-pressurising the system as above if you have vented a radiator and the system is pressurised.
    • If no hot water, turn on the immersion on the hot water cylinder temporarily
